Welcome to the Kingston upon Hull Junior Hockey Club
We hope that these pages will answer a few questions and give some key information about the club.
The club runs several teams who participate in the Yorkshire Youth League. Each team has six sessions, once a month approximately, where teams are split into leagues. Depending upon the number of teams in each league, the teams have several matches at each session. From these results, teams can be promoted, remain in the same division or be demoted for the next session. The venues are throughout Yorkshire but the younger age groups tend to play in Leeds.
In Season 2016/17, the club has entered teams in the following age groups:
Boys – U12, U14 and U16 Girls – U10, U12 and U14
It is important that we have the correct information for all members so that players can be invited to play for the right team in their age group.
Existing members – do not have to fill in a new registration form if one is handed in and ensure that all your information is up to date. If you have lost your log in details please email Di Kirby.
New members – forms are available from Di Kirby and Judith Nicholson for all new members. They also can be downloaded from this site – soon.
Families – some siblings have not been registered and parents are asked to ensure that they have completed forms for all of their children.
The training sessions at the KCom stadium are as follows:
9am to 10am is squad training for the boys’ teams
10am to 11am is for younger players and new starters.
6pm to 7pm is squad training for U12 and U14 girls and skills training for the boys.
Annual Subscriptions: The annual subscription for all junior members who play in a Yorkshire Youth League team is £10 per season, or £30 for those aged 13 or over who play for one of our senior teams. This can be paid to Judith Nicholson, Fiona Wells, Di Kirby or any team manager. It can also be paid directly into our bank account, details of which are available from any of the above. If you pay this way, remember to put your name as a reference.
We are grateful that most membership fees are paid promptly each year and hope that this will be maintained this coming season. They should be paid before the second match at the latest, or players may find that they are ineligible for selection.
Match Fees: These will remain at £2.50 per game for junior matches (those playing in senior games will be charged at a different rate).
Training Fees: Saturday sessions will remain at £2.00 and Wednesday at £3.00.
When collecting your child from KCom Stadium, please agree beforehand which entrance you will meet them at. With the dark nights drawing in we don’t want children wandering around the park alone.
Shin Pads and Mouth Guards: All players need to wear these at training sessions and matches. Accidents can happen, and it is essential that all juniors take proper care and wear protection.
Shirts: These will be provided for players in each Yorkshire Youth Hockey team. If you have a club shirt in your possession please hand this in as soon as possible.
Other Kit (hoodies/socks/polo shirts/rain gear): Some kit is available to purchase direct from the O’Neills website.
Communication to all parents will be via Fixtures Live.
Parents and guardians will be kept updated by newsletters sent via email.
The club has organised hockey summer camps for the last two seasons. Information regarding these events will be emailed to parents.
There has been very successful Christmas Parties held by the club which were organised by Debbie Straker, the events co-ordinator. We hope to repeat this event annually.
For 2016, the date is 9th December at YPI in Hull.
Presentation of Awards Celebration & AGM
This is held at the end of each season. All players that participated in YYL are presented with trophies/medals. Special awards are presented to certain individuals. Certificates for attendance at training sessions are given to all players who achieve 10 or more sessions for a Bronze Award, 20 or more for a Silver Award and 30 or more for a Gold Award.
